Sobre o nosso curso


Unifran’s Master’s and Doctorate Program in Linguistics comprises a Master’s course, recommended and approved by Ministerial Ordinance No. 524, of April 29, 2008, and a Doctorate course, approved in 2019, as per Capes Ordinance 161 of August 22, 2017, following approval at the 180th CTC-ES meeting.

Its general objective is:

a) to promote research on language and linguistics in their textual and discursive dimensions, training researchers and professionals in Literature and related fields for higher education teaching and for other professional areas related to language work.

And its specific objectives are:

a) to characterize and explain language in operation, relating it to enunciation, communication, and the variabilities and restrictions of the historical, social, and ideological context;
b) to train researchers and professionals in Literature and Linguistics and related fields for teaching in higher education and basic education, as well as for other professional areas connected to language;
c) to develop, under different theoretical perspectives, research projects on language in its textual and discursive dimensions;
d) to provide theoretical and methodological depth in the area based on the debate among different theoretical lines;
e) to promote systematic academic reflection on the organization and textual and discursive procedures that encompass the two research lines: “Discourse: meaning, communication, and representation” and “Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches”;
f) to demonstrate the need for deepening knowledge about text and discourse theories, highlighting the importance of the theories used and the objects of study for the future master’s academic work;
g) to disseminate and socialize the results derived from the research carried out, sharing knowledge and integrating research into the university’s dynamics and the public and private basic education systems;
h) to contribute to the improvement of basic education through the continuing education of teachers and researchers qualified to work on three fronts: research, teaching, and extension.
