Professor Acir de Matos Gomes

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Acir de Matos Gomes holds a postdoctoral degree from the University of São Paulo – USP SP – in the Program of Philology and Portuguese Language, Department of Classical and Vernacular Letters; and a postdoctoral degree in Portuguese Language (with an emphasis on Legal Rhetoric) from PUC-SP. He holds a PhD in Portuguese Language (with an emphasis on Legal Rhetoric) from PUC-SP, and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from UNIFRAN. He is also a Specialist in Contemporary Psychoanalysis from UNIFRAN, a Specialist in Civil Procedure from FACON, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Law School of Franca. He is a practicing lawyer in the areas of civil, family, and criminal law. He is a certified Mediator/Conciliator by NUPEMEC/CNJ. He is a columnist for the newspaper Diário Verdade. He is a member of the ERA Research Group (Rhetorical and Argumentative Studies) at PUC São Paulo and of the PARE Research Group (Research in Argumentation and Rhetoric) at UNIFRAN. He has experience in the fields of Linguistics, with an emphasis on Rhetoric.

Professor Aline Fernandes de Azevedo 

Research Area: Discourse: meaning, communication, and representation 

Professor Aline Fernandes de Azevedo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication (Journalism) from UNESP – Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2001), a Specialization in Psychoanalysis from UNIFRAN (2021), a Master’s in Communication Sciences from USP – Universidade de São Paulo (2006) with CAPES support, a Ph.D. in Linguistics from UNICAMP – Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2013), and a Post-Doctorate from the same institution with an internship at Université Paris 13, supported by CAPES PNPD and a CAPES scholarship for an internship abroad (2015). She also completed a post-doctorate at FFCLRp/USP with a FAPESP scholarship (2018). She is the coordinator of LabES – Laboratório Escutas do Social, where she advises undergraduate research, Master’s, and Ph.D. students. She has experience in Linguistics, with an emphasis on Discourse Analysis, working mainly with the following themes: Discourse analysis, Psychoanalysis, memory, corporeality discourses, gender and sexuality, discourse and archives, materialities of testimony, trauma, and mourning. She also works as a psychoanalyst in a private practice. 

She is a faculty member in undergraduate courses in Journalism, Pedagogy, and Literature, and in graduate studies at UNIFRAN. She is the editor-in-chief of the Revista Diálogos Pertinentes.

Professor Assunção Aparecida Laia Cristóvão 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Assunção Aparecida Laia Cristóvão is a professor in the Graduate Program (Master’s and Ph.D.) at the University of Franca (Unifran). She holds a post-doctorate from CAPES-Unesp de Araraquara, a degree in Journalism from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (1982), a specialization in Text and Teaching Linguistics (2000), a Master’s in Linguistics and Portuguese Language (2005), and a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Portuguese Language (2011), these last three degrees from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, having completed part of her studies at the Università di Bologna, Italy. 

She worked for many years in Journalism, in radio, TV, and print media, in regional vehicles, as a correspondent for the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, and in university press offices. She was a substitute professor in the Department of Human Sciences at Unesp de Bauru and a permanent professor in the Professional Master’s Program in Literature (ProfLetras), offered nationwide within the framework of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) System. She has experience in Linguistics, with an emphasis on Media and Journalism, working mainly with the following themes: journalism, website, internet, discourse analysis, and linguistics.

Professor Beatriz Maria Eckert-Hoff 

Research Area: Discourse: meaning, communication, and representation 

 

Professor Beatriz Maria Eckert-Hoff completed post-doctoral studies in the Department of Modern Languages at USP, and a post-doctoral fellowship at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany, with FAPESP support. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from UNICAMP, with a sandwich internship at ESES – Escola Superior de Educação de Portugal, supported by FAPESP. She has a Master’s in Literature from UFSM/RS, with CAPES support, and a degree in Literature from UNOESC -Chapecó/SC. 

Currently, she serves as the Vice-President of Academic Excellence for the Cruzeiro do Sul Group. For several years, she has dedicated herself to teaching, research, and University Management within Higher Education. She is a researcher-professor focusing on the following topics: teacher training, discourse analysis, identity, memory, and self-writing. She is a researcher linked to the GT Práticas Identitárias of ANPOLL. 

She has published several articles, books, and book chapters, including the work “Escritura de si e identidade: o sujeito-professor em formação” (Self-writing and identity: the subject-teacher in training), published by Mercado de Letras / FAPESP. She is an Assessor for FAPESP, a full member of the Superior Council of FAPDF (Foundation for Research Support of the Federal District); a full member of the Deliberative Council of CRUB (Council of Rectors of Brazilian Universities); a full member of FORGES (World Forum for Studies on Management in Higher Education), and a member of the FNE (National Education Forum). 

As Rector of UDF, she received the Commendation of the Order of Judicial Labor Merit, in the degree of Commander, from the Superior Labor Court (TST) on August 11, 2017.

Professor Camila de Araújo Beraldo 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Camila de Araújo Beraldo holds a degree in Literature – Portuguese and English specialization from the University of Franca, a Master’s in Linguistics from the University of Franca, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Portuguese Language from FCLAR – Unesp (Araraquara). She completed a post-doctoral internship in the Department of Education, Information and Communication, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo (USP), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Soraya Maria Romano Pacifico. 

She is the leader of GEBGÊ – Grupo de Pesquisas Estudos Bakhtinianos dos Gêneros do Discurso – certified by CNPq. Currently, she is a permanent professor and vice-coordinator of the Graduate Program in Linguistics (Master’s and Ph.D.) at the University of Franca and a professor in the Literature, Translator and Interpreter, and Pedagogy courses. Areas of expertise and knowledge: Text Linguistics, Bakhtinian Studies, Discourse Analysis, Semiotics, Latin Language and Literature.

Professor Danilo Cândido Bulgo

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Danilo Cândido Bulgo holds a postdoctoral degree in Linguistics from the University of Franca (UNIFRAN), as well as a PhD and Master’s degree in Health Promotion from the same institution. His academic background is multidisciplinary, with undergraduate degrees in Languages (with qualifications in English, Portuguese, and their respective literatures), a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting, Pedagogy, Physiotherapy, Physical Education (both bachelor’s and teaching degrees), Social Work, Visual Arts, and Special Education. He also holds postgraduate degrees in the fields of Humanities, Health, and Education. With over thirteen years of experience in higher education, he works at the intersection of teaching, research, and outreach. His main interests involve a multidimensional approach to topics such as cinema, art, literature, and television; gender and sexuality studies; vulnerable populations; advocacy for social rights (including people with disabilities, child, adolescent, and elderly health); early childhood and special education; playfulness, games, and recreational activities; as well as the use of innovative technologies with an emphasis on virtual reality.

Professor Cláudia de Fátima Oliveira 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Cláudia de Fátima Oliveira has a degree in Literature – Portuguese and English specialization from the University of Franca and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Franca Law School. She holds a specialization in Labor Law, and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Franca. She works with the correction of academic and business texts and large-scale writing (for university entrance exams and public tenders). She has experience in Linguistics, with an emphasis on Text and Discourse Analysis. Areas of expertise and knowledge: Text Linguistics, Bakhtinian Studies, Discourse Analysis, Rhetoric, Law.

Professor Luciana Carmona Garcia 

Research Area: Discourse: meaning, communication, and representation 

Professor Luciana Carmona Garcia is a permanent professor and the current coordinator of the Graduate Program in Linguistics at the University of Franca/SP. 

She is an Ambassador for the Parent in Science Movement – Southeast Region. 

She holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate Program in Linguistics at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), São Paulo (2014). She completed a doctoral internship in Toulouse (France) at Université de Toulouse II – Le Mirail as part of her doctoral project. She has a Master’s degree (2010) in Linguistics and a Bachelor’s degree in Literature, with a specialization in Spanish Language, from the same institution (2001). 

She has been a member of the GESTAR – Maternity and Science research group at UFSCar since 2020, and has been the leader of the GTEDI – Text and Discourse Studies Group at UNIFRAN since 2016. She is a member of the Research Integrity Committee at Unifran. She has been a member of the Franca Sustainable Forum since 2019. She conducts research in the area of Linguistic Theory and Analysis, with an emphasis on Discourse Analysis, working mainly on the following themes: discourse analysis, historical semiology, political discourse, television, gender, minorities, maternity. She also teaches in the areas of General Linguistics, Linguistic Theory and Analysis, Discourse Analysis, Early Childhood Education, and Organization of Pedagogical Work.

Professor Maria Silvia Pereira Rodrigues Alves Barbosa 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Maria Silvia Pereira Rodrigues Alves Barbosa holds a Post-Doctorate in Linguistics, PNPD/CAPES-UNIFRAN, and has a Ph.D. and Master’s in Linguistics and Portuguese Language from UNESP de Araraquara, and a Specialization in Portuguese Language and Literature. She has a degree in Portuguese and Spanish Literature from the Federal University of São Carlos (2004) and from the National University of Rosario, Argentina. She is a member of the PARE Group (Research in Argumentation and Rhetoric), and the Life and Art with Meaning research group, both certified by CNPq, and of APEESP (Association of Spanish Teachers of the State of São Paulo). She was a member of the APEESP board between 2008 and 2010. She was the pedagogical coordinator of the social project “Comunícate: la mejor edad comunicándose en español” at Uni-FACEF. She was also the institutional coordinator of the Pedagogical Residency program at Uni-FACEF. She is a member of the Francana Academy of Letters, the Cassiense Academy of Letters, and the Southern Minas Gerais Women’s Academy of Letters. She has experience in the areas of Spanish Language (language, teacher training, and pronunciation), Linguistics (Rhetoric and Phonetics and Phonology), and Research Methodology (scientific writing). She is a professional storyteller with various participations in different contexts.

Professor Marília Achete Junqueira Garcia

Research Area: Discourse: meaning, communication, and representation 

Professor Marília Achete Junqueira Garcia holds a degree in Languages from the University of Franca, is a specialist in Language and Literature, has a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the Federal University of São Carlos, and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Franca as a CAPES scholarship holder. She is a member of the GTeDi Study Group at UNIFRAN. She has experience in the fields of Language and Discourse, with an emphasis on Linguistics, working mainly in the following areas: Textual Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Enunciative and Argumentative Semantics, grammar, text production, and interpretation.

Professor Marilurdes Cruz Borges 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Marilurdes Cruz Borges holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Portuguese Language from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho – UNESP, Araraquara (2015), in the area of Discourse Analysis. Her thesis explores the dialogue with discursive genres in journalistic, scientific, and pedagogical spheres, from the theoretical-methodological perspective of Bakhtinian studies. She holds a Master’s in Linguistics from the University of Franca (2008). Her master’s dissertation, developed in the area of Discourse Analysis, focuses on the construction of meaning, dialogism, and the enunciative scene in Carlos Heitor Cony’s novel Pessach: a travessia. She specialized in Portuguese Language and Literature from the University of Franca (2004). She specialized in Neurolearning from Faculdades Metropolitanas (2019). She graduated in Literature with a specialization in Literature from the University of Franca (2001). She also graduated in Pedagogy from the same institution (2017). 

Currently, she is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Linguistics and the Graduate Program in Health Promotion (Master’s and Ph.D.) at the University of Franca. She is the coordinator and professor of the undergraduate courses in Pedagogy and Literature – Portuguese/English at the University of Franca. She is the vice-leader of GEBGE – Bakhtinian Studies Group on Discourse Genres and the leader of GIADLD – Investigation Group on Language and Discourse Development, both registered with CNPq. Along with LABOAD – Dialogical Discourse Analysis Laboratory, she conducts qualitative research anchored in the philosophy of Mikhail Bakhtin and the Bakhtin Circle. Areas of expertise and knowledge: Text Linguistics, Bakhtinian Studies, Discourse Analysis, Portuguese Language, Brazilian and Portuguese Literatures, Literacy and Education, and Teaching Practices in Basic Education.

Professor Luana Ferraz 

Research Area: Textual processes and practices: characterizations and theoretical approaches 

Professor Luana Ferraz holds a Ph.D. in Portuguese Language from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2019). She has a Master’s in Linguistics (2015) from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) and graduated in Literature – Portuguese (2013) and Biological Sciences (2004) from the same institution. 

She is a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Program in Linguistics and in the Pedagogy and Literature courses at the University of Franca. 

She is a member of the GETHu (Humorous Text Studies Group) and ERA (Rhetorical and Argumentative Studies Group) Research Groups and the leader of the PARE Group (Research in Argumentation and Rhetoric). She has experience in the areas of Linguistics and Portuguese Language, with an emphasis on Rhetoric and Argumentation. 

She conducts research on the following themes: humor, persuasion, entertainment, and mass culture.
